/WHY LATAM

LATAM x GLOBAL

As the Earth’s largest nature reservoir—containing 40% of the world’s biodiversity, one-third of its fresh water, and 57% of primary forests—LATAM, with its promising cleantech startup ecosystem and over 60% share of renewables in total energy generation, is poised to become the leading hub for cleantech innovation, vital for both regional and global environmental health.

However, discussions with 30+ LATAM Cleantech & STEER experts shed light on some of their limitations:

  • Limited international partnerships and VC investing opportunities

  • Limited partnerships between the public (Governments, Academia, Research) and private sectors (Startups, VCs, Private Companies)

  • Underutilization and support of LATAM STEER talents (2m+), as only a few get to work with (or build) cleantech startups, the majority remaining in Academia and IGOs' settings

outlining that joint cross-border cross-sector efforts are imperative, to turn today's limitations into tomorrow's opportunities.
